In this modern retelling of Mozart's classic, a box provides a versatile container for the opera's shifting environs, and also stands in as a metaphor for the human psyche. Ever in flux, it is an arena where the heroes confront their own limitations, and also a site where endless possibilities, surprises, and hidden truths are uncovered. As the characters overcome their personal trials on the path to enlightenment, the box's final state is one of openness and illumination.
